Throughout 2016, the adidas Consortium Tour saw the Three Stripes partnering with the world’s best sneaker shops to collaborate on a range of footwear models. For 2017, adidas is taking the notion of collaboration a step further, asking retailers to partner up with one another as part of a new project, the Sneaker Exchange.
Sneaker Exchange is set up to push the boundaries, compelling the participating retail partners to abandon their safe space and move into new territory. Sportswear retailers will join forces with fashion-oriented stores, while women’s shops will team up with their menswear counterparts. The upshot is that the Sneaker Exchange will offer a new platform for collaboration, celebrating the strength of the international sneaker community as it raises Consortium models to a new level.
The project will feature a single monthly drop over the course of 2017. Two select retailers will collaborate on a bespoke sneaker pack of two silhouettes, with each pack utilizing an old and new model. Expect to see the adidas Campus and EQT reimagined with modern materials, as well as the UltraBOOST in a non-performance capacity. Stay tuned.
