Following up on our initial preview, we get a closer look at the installations and displays featured at Air Max Con NYC. The three-day event kicked off today at Skylight Clarkson Square, welcoming a community of fans who rightly view visible Air as one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. A starting point in the massive space took the form of the Air Max Vault, featuring the top 100 Air Max models as selected by Nike, complete with each sneaker’s backstory. The next section, the H-T-M Room, told the story of Nike’s “most elusive line.” Along with displays of the new Air Max LD-Zero H, Air Max 90 Ultra Superfly T and Air Max Ultra M, there were separate “tubes” dedicated to Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield, and Nike CEO Mark Parker, with visitors able to step into one of the tubes to take a selfie.
Additional highlights include the SNKRS store and NIKEiD studio, featuring a laser Air Max 90 with custom lace locks. There were artist booths showcasing works from the likes of Flawless and Matt Senna, who were on site to discuss their process. Jason Markk provided a shoe care station that cleaned visitors’ sneakers so they looked as good as deadstock, while The Madbury Club’s Air Chamber allowed attendees to snap sneaker selfies. Hungry sneaker enthusiasts also availed themselves to Kith Treats, offering cereal boxes inspired by and named after iconic Air Maxes.
